Class Types

Below you will find a brief description of what the different classes include.

Jivamukti Open Class

The Jivamukti Open Class is suitable for practitioners of all levels, thus the description ‘open’. In an Open Class you will find the five tenets of the Jivamukti Method embedded in a vigorous āsana sequence.
Every class offers a spiritual teaching, inspired by the ancient scriptures and the Focus of the Month essay, around which the class is built – incorporating a creative vinyasa flow, as well as meditation, breath work and chanting.
For further information on the Jivamukti Yoga Method, please wisit their website.

Slow Flow

In a slow flow class you will find more restorative postures, inspired by Yin and Katonah Yoga. Although there is some gentle vinyasa flows included, the focus lies on holding the postures over a longer duration of time – working with all the props available to provide a feeling of safety and ground through contact and support.

Back to Basics

Whether you are new to āsana practice and are looking for a good place to start or a seasoned practitioner keen to work on your alignment and get a deeper sense and knowledge for the postures, the Back to Basics class will have you covered!
Inspired by the four week curriculum of the Jivamukti Basic’s, in each of the four or five weeks we will cover the most common postures of various āsana groups, such as standing postures, forward folds and back bends. In addition to that, we will touch upon meditation and breathwork and break down the most widely taught variations of sun salutations.
The content of the last week of each month will vary and there will be room for more specific āsanas or practices, looking at the foundations of inversions, arm balances, more challenging backbends or just recap what has been covered in the weeks before.
The alignment of āsana will be looked at in detail and there will be variations and modifications offered as well as the use of props.
The classes will be held in a workshop style where questions and interaction is very much encouraged!

Meditation and Chanting Circle

Shifting the focus on other yogic practices aside from āsana, in this donation based class the practice of dhyāna (meditation) and mantra chanting will be explored. There will be some theoretical, historical or philosophical background input, varying approaches or types of meditation and a little Kirtan for the remaining time.
Experiencing the richness and depth of yogic philosophy and history, the huge potential of meditation and mindfulness practices, and the magic of chanting the ancient and powerful mantras together.
